# Good delivery starts with clear decisions.

A shared understanding of the problem. A scope people can assess. Evidence that the work is ready to use.

## Understand the operation

Map the business problem, users, existing systems and constraints. Identify the information we need and the people who can approve decisions.

**What you can review:** Problem statement, system map, priorities and dependencies.

## Define a useful first release

Agree what to deliver, what to leave out, acceptance criteria and responsibilities. Resolve material questions through a focused discovery or assessment.

**What you can review:** Scope, delivery milestones, acceptance criteria and commercial proposal.

## Build and review together

Work through agreed milestones with demonstrations and feedback. Track decisions and scope changes so delivery stays connected to the original business need.

**What you can review:** Working increments, decision records and test evidence.

## Prepare for operation

Review access, migration, monitoring, backup and rollback needs. Agree who accepts the release and how the team will support it after handover.

**What you can review:** Release checklist, operational documentation and agreed support scope.

## The engagement should fit the uncertainty.

### Discovery or assessment

Use a bounded engagement when systems, risks or requirements need investigation before a reliable implementation scope is possible.

### Defined project

Use a milestone-based project when outcomes and acceptance criteria can be agreed. Dependencies, exclusions and change control belong in the proposal.

### Ongoing engineering or support

Agree a backlog, operating responsibilities and review cadence. Support hours, response targets and escalation arrangements are specified in the service agreement.

## Bring these to the first conversation.

-   The workflow or business problem you want to improve.
-   The systems involved and who owns them.
-   Data sensitivity, security and procurement requirements.
-   A useful first outcome, timing constraints and budget context.
-   The people responsible for decisions and acceptance.
